Your library is open

The library is now open. We've introduced many new services so that we can welcome you back safely.

A message from the Director of Library Services, Rachel Beckett:

Learning and studying, staying safe

The Library service will continue to support you with access to a vast collection of e-books, print books, journals and databases. Our subject librarians are still on hand with specialist knowledge in your subject. You can access virtual training to help you learn and study most effectively and you can access study spaces and equipment including PCs, printing, photocopying and scanning services.

What to expect

  • Most of our services are being delivered online just now

  • You can explore our online catalogue of around 440,000 e-books, 500,000 print books, thousands of e-journals, 340 databases and other resources wherever you are, whenever you want

  • We’ve launched a click and collect service for borrowing print-only books and a click and consult service to give you access to material that can’t be borrowed, such as journals

  • A new scan and deliver service is available if you can’t come to campus, delivering resources by email

  • We’ve planned a quieter, safer library environment with bookable study and drop-in spaces (but once it’s full, it’s full, so booking is recommended if you want a space on a particular day)

  • You can book a space with or without a PC and have access to all our photocopying, scanning and printing services while you are there

  • Our specialist info skills programme is available online. Join a session to develop your study and research skills, build your confidence and unlock the best grades.

What we ask

The Library and all our services are available in 2020-21, but with some differences to keep us all safe.

  • Keep a safe distance between you and others. Study spaces are set out to be compliant with social distancing guidelines

  • Wear a face covering while moving around the building (unless exempt). You may take this off when sitting at your study space

  • Practice good hygiene by regularly washing your hands and using the hand sanitiser gel provided

We aim to bring your Library service to you wherever you are. If you have any questions or need help, please get in touch
