Suspension of inter-library loans

Due to the implementation of a new Library Management System, due to go-live in early June, the inter-library loan service will be suspended for a a few weeks.

Last orders for ILLs will be:

Books: Friday 3rd April

Articles and book chapters: Friday 1st May

We aim to resume ILL ordering on Monday 8th June 2020

Please contact your subject librarian with any queries about ILLs

Information

If you require an item for your studies which is not in stock then you may request an inter-library loan (ILL).  We will then try to find the item for you via the British Library or other UK institutions.

Items from outside the UK may only be requested by researchers and staff.

Staff and fully-enrolled students at Manchester Metropolitan University may request the following number of ILLs per academic year free of charge:

  • Undergraduate: 10
  • Postgraduate Taught: 15
  • Postgraduate Research and Staff: 30

If you require more than your allocation please contact us.

Online requests

Please use the form link below to apply for inter-library loans.  You will be asked to log in to your Library account and then you will need to enter the details of the item you require.

You will receive an email notification to your University account when the item is available for you.

If there is a delay in supplying the item, or we are unable to supply, then we will also contact you via your University email account.

EDIT: Monday 23rd March 2020. The online form is not working at the moment, please use these forms instead:

How long will it take?

Leave plenty of time to get your ILL. We advise a minimum of 3 weeks.

All photocopies of journal articles and book chapters will be sent to your home address. Unfortunately, we are unable to post out books, but we will notify you when they are ready for collection.

Theses

Please consult EThOS if you require a UK thesis.

If the thesis you require is not available via EThOS then please use the online form.
