You find ebooks on your device in the same way you would on a laptop or PC -
Search the Manchester Met Library Catalogue or locate an ebook using Library Search and follow the link to the full online text.
You have access to all our ebooks via a desktop computer or laptop, however:
Please note that not all ebooks will work with all devices - refer to the help sections on each ebook provider's website.
You will need to first install either of these apps on your device in order to read downloaded ebooks successfully:
These reader apps are available to download from the iTunes App Store for Apple devices, and from the Google Play Store for Android devices.
Although most devices have a native PDF viewer built in to open normal documents, many of our Library ebooks are secured and can only be opened by specialist PDF reader apps.
There is a distinction between reading ebooks online via a device's web browser when connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or mobile connection and downloading ebooks (or sections of books). Downloading ebooks to read using a PDF reader app, allows content to be stored on a device (for a certain period of time), and does not require an internet connection for reading once downloaded.
Please note: it is not always possible to Read Online or Download ebooks with every provider. Providers usually have more information in the help section on their website.
