Video: Practical Law

  • Practical Law provides peer reviewed resources, such as practice notes, current awareness and standard documents, written by a team of over 300 experts.
  • The home page gives you an overview of the practice areas covered, as well as specific collections and international law.
  • Under the resources tab you can see the types of resources available, including up to date documents and the PLC magazine.
  • You can also use the ask button if you have a specific question, or you can browse questions from other users and see the responses.
  • Going back to the Practice Areas tab, I'm going to take a closer look at the Private Client area.
  • Here, you can see the topics covered under the Private Client heading.
  • Under the resources tab you will find material such as practice notes and legal updates.
  • You can keep up to date with relevant legislation and cases by clicking on the trackers tab.
  • And, under external resources you will find links to useful material outside of Practical Law.
  • From the topics list I'm going to select trusts.
  • Here you can view information such as practice notes, standard documents and clauses and a glossary of terms that you may come across within the topic.
  • Going back to the Practical Law home page, I'm going to select the international tab. Here you can select a country to see how various aspects of the law are applied in that particular country. You also have the option to compare the law across different countries.
  • You can also search within Practical Law using the search box on the home page.
  • You can either search across all content or use the drop-down box to limit your search to a particular area.
  • As an example, I'm going to search all content for information on trusts.
  • You can then filter your results on the left hand side of the screen by type of resource, practice area and jurisdiction.
