SCONUL Access

Temporary restrictions

Manchester Metropolitan University Library will not be processing any new, or renewal, SCONUL applications until further notice. Existing SCONUL Band A, B and C members, who already have valid MMU Library ID cards, will still be granted access to the library.

Who does the SCONUL Access scheme cover?

SCONUL logo

The SCONUL Access scheme enables library users from other member universities to visit our library for reference access.  Staff, researchers, postgraduates and all part-time, distance learners and most placement students may also borrow books.  For more information and to apply online, please see the SCONUL Access website.

What to bring with you

  • SCONUL Access email from your home library confirming that you are eligible for the scheme.
  • Your university/library ID card.

If you would like to apply for a borrower card (SCONUL Access bands A, B and C) then you will need to complete a registration form.  We will also take your photo at the help desk.  Your ID card will be ready within 2 weeks and will be posted to you.

If you an undergraduate with Band R access please sign in at the help desk.

Help desk opening hours are available here: https://libguides.mmu.ac.uk/opening.

Services available

All except undergraduate students may borrow 4 items (2 week loan items only).

Undergraduate access is reference only.

We are unable to offer access to computing facilities, printing or the majority of electronic information resources.  Wifi access is available via Eduroam or our visitor wifi network.

Photocopying facilities are available upon the purchase of a copy card. Please note that photocopying is subject to copyright legislation.

Restrictions

The Library's main focus is to provide services for Manchester Met students and staff so visitors from other institutions may have their access restricted at key times of year. Please check Library Services News for details of any current restrictions.
