What can I access?

Physical resources:

You are entitled to the full staff allowance for borrowing physical resources. This is detailed on the Borrowing entitlements page.

You are eligible to apply for inter-library loans.

You are also entitled to reference access to any further physical resources (ie resources can be used within the library but not borrowed or taken elsewhere).

Online resources:

Once you are registered with Manchester Metropolitan, your access to online resources is granted automatically. Owing to licensing restrictions, we regret to say we are not able to make all of our subscribed online resources available to you. If you are denied access to material online, it is probably hosted by an online resource you are not entitled to access.

If you experience any trouble accessing online resources or have any questions, get in touch using the Contact us section on this page. We can also provide you with a current list of the online resources available to you.

Associate Academics are entitled to Walk In Access (WIA) to online resources. WIA gives visitors access to a limited range of Manchester Met Library Services' online services (also known as online resources) where licences permit. Library Services' online services include eBooks, ejournals and research databases. Users may consult ejournals, ebooks and databases available to walk-in access users via any PC in the Library (apart from the catalogues) using a temporary login. Users need to register for this service each time they want to use it.

Here is a list of online services available via the Walk In Access service

If you experience any trouble accessing online resources or have any questions, get in touch using the Contact us section on this page. A current list of the online resources available to you can be provided on request.

For help getting started with online resources, see our video introduction to Library Search, which is our first port of call for finding online resources, and our general guide to using our online services.

When can I visit?

Once you have received your ID card, you will be able to swipe into the library during any of our opening hours.

Check our opening times before you visit.

How do I join?

To access Library resources you must first be registered on university systems as an Associate Academic. Registration is requested via the relevant Dean or Head of Department and a University ID card generated.

Once you are registered with Manchester Metropolitan University, your access to online resources is granted automatically, but you will need to fill in a borrower registration form when you first visit the Library in order to access the Library and borrow physical items.
