All current students, staff and researchers from universities other than Manchester Metropolitan University may visit Manchester Metropolitan University Library if they are in possession of a SCONUL Access email from your home library confirming that you are eligible for the scheme and your university/library ID card.
Full time undergraduates are welcome to access the Library during help desk opening hours. Please see the section below, When can I visit?, for restriction details.
Other students, staff and researchers are entitled to swipe into the Library and use the Chat Zone during opening hours via the SCONUL Access scheme.
All users and visitors must observe the Library Rules and Regulations.
You will need to apply through the SCONUL Access scheme and bring an authorisation email with you as proof of your eligibility alongside your ID card.
Full time undergraduates are entitled to reference access only and can not borrow any books or other items.
Other students, staff and researchers can apply for limited borrowing rights via the SCONUL Access scheme. You would then be able to borrow up to 4 items.
Students, staff and researchers from other universities are entitled to Walk In Access (WIA) to online resources. WIA gives visitors access to a limited range of Manchester Met Library Services' online services (also known as online resources) where licenses permit. Library Services' online services include ebooks, ejournals and research databases. Users may consult ejournals, ebooks and databases available to walk-in access users via any PC in the Library (apart from the catalogues) using a temporary login. Users need to register for this service each time they want to use it.
If you experience any trouble accessing electronic resources or have any questions, get in touch using the Contact us section on this page. A current list of the online resources available to you can be provided on request.
For help getting started with online resources, see our video introduction to Library Search, which is our first port of call for finding online resources, and our general guide to using our online services.
Wi-Fi is available through the Eduroam network for you to use with your own devices. Details of how to connect to Eduroam will be available from your home institution. Connecting to Eduroam means you will also be able to access your home institution's resources.
We are unable to offer access to any PCs or other computing equipment.
For more details on the SCONUL scheme, please see the SCONUL Libguide.
Full time undergraduates from other universities are welcome to sign in during help desk opening hours. Once other students, staff and researchers have received their ID card, they will be able to swipe into the library during any of our opening hours. Please check these on our opening times page before you visit.
As the Library's main focus is to provide services for Manchester Metropolitan University students and staff, visitors from other institutions may have their access restricted at key times of year. Please check the Library News for details of any current restrictions.
You will need to bring a current university ID card and your SCONUL authorisation email with you, in order to sign in at reception.
The application process for other students, staff and researchers will take 14 working days to complete, if successful, a library card will be posted out.
