Members of the public may visit Manchester Metropolitan University Libraries if they are in possession of a valid public library card.
Our primary role is to support Manchester Metropolitan University students, staff and researchers. Due to the demand on our study spaces, access to members of the public is restricted.
During term time, members of the public may sign in at the following times:
|Saturday - Sunday||11.00 - 17.00|
During vacation periods, there is no time restriction. You may sign in when the help desk is open. Please see our opening hours for details.
Access is suspended during the exam period in May and June every year. Please check the library news for details before visiting.
You are entitled to reference access to physical resources (i.e. resources can be used within the library but not borrowed or taken elsewhere).
Members of the public are entitled to Walk In Access (WIA) to online resources. WIA gives visitors access to a limited range of Manchester Met Library Services' online services (also known as online resources) where licenses permit. Library Services' online services include ebooks, ejournals and research databases. Users may consult ejournals, ebooks and databases available to walk-in access users via any PC in the Library (apart from the catalogues) using a temporary login. Users need to register for this service each time they want to use it.
If you experience any trouble accessing online resources or have any questions, get in touch using the Contact us section on this page. A current list of the online resources available to you can be provided on request.
For help getting started with online resources, see our video introduction to Library Search, which is our first port of call for finding online resources, and our general guide to using our online services.
Free visitor wifi. Choose _BTWi-fi_ManMet from the list of networks and click 'Get online' on your browser.
Please bring your public library card with you, in order to sign in at reception.
