Ebooks on mobile devices

Read Dawsonera ebooks online on iPad & iPhone

Clicking on the title of a Dawsonera ebook in Library Search or from the link in the Catalogue record takes you to the ebook details page on the Dawsonera site.

Once the required ebook has been located on the Dawsonera site, tap the Read Online icon beneath the ebook description.

The full text is then displayed in the device web browser.

Tap left or right arrows (screenshot below) to turn pages.

 Or select a chapter heading from the contents to jump to the first page of that chapter.

Download Dawsonera ebooks on iPad & iPhone

***Please be aware that there is currently a bug affecting downloads of Dawsonera ebooks on iPads & iPhones. Downloaded content cannot be opened on these devices. Dawsonera have advised us that this bug will be fixed in October 2017***

Please note that downloaded ebooks are loaned on to a device for 24 hours at a time. After 24 hours the ebook will automatically become locked.

There is no limit to the number of times users may download an eBook however you must repeat the download process again in order to re-access the ebook.

Any highlights/notes/annotations made during loan periods are lost once each 24 hour loan period expires.


Clicking on the title of a Dawsonera ebook in Library Search or from the link in the Catalogue record takes you to the ebook details page on the Dawsonera site.

Once the required ebook has been located on the Dawsonera site, tap the Download icon beneath the ebook description.

Select Download from the dialogue box.

On an iPad or iPhone users must tap on the text which reads For iPhone & iPad users click here to download below the OK button.

A new tab will open in the internet browser displaying blank pages.

Tap any white space to bring up the black toolbar.

Select Open in "Adobe Reader"  (or Open in... then select Bluefire Reader as an alternative).

The Adobe Reader program will start. Select Open from the dialogue box.

The borrowed eBook will open in the reader app and is now readable for 24 hours.

To re-access at any point during this period open the Adobe Reader app,

Select Documents from the menu on the left hand side, and tap the ebook to reopen.
