Borrowing, renewals and reservations

Rolling renewals

Items will be issued for 2 weeks and then renewed automatically on a rolling 2 week basis unless reserved by another customer.

We will notify you via your University email account when items are due for return so please make sure that you check your emails regularly.

You may also renew via My Library Account.

If you don't return an item which has been recalled by the Library, you will be subject to a fine. This is to keep stock circulating so we can make sure as many people as possible get to borrow our items.

How to renew items

Use your University ID and Library PIN to renew items online at My Library Account.

You will not be able to renew items if:

  • the item is reserved;

  • your account is blocked because of outstanding fines over £10 and/or very overdue items;

  • you have outstanding University fees;

  • you have renewed the item more than 99 times.

Important information about renewals

Please note that:

  • Inter-library loans cannot be renewed online. They have to be presented at the Library help desk.
  • We recommend that you renew in advance of the renewal date, to allow you time to return any items reserved by other users without incurring any fines.
  • When renewing online on the day that items are due back, please do this before midnight. After this time they will become overdue and will incur a fine.
  • Access My Library Account on the Library catalogue or MyMMU portal
