Quirky Finds

The letter Q was brought to you by Matthew Lloyd, the Library Marketing & Engagement Officer, whose quite quintessential qualities and quirks can’t be quantified in quotas, quotes, quips or qualifications.

You never know what you will find during your time at the MMU Library! Just to give you an idea of the kind of things you can expect, below are a few examples of the unusual books we have in our collection, as well as some of the interesting things we have stumbled across.

This Celtic depiction of the goddess Epona upon a reign-bearing, horned goose was taken from the book Pagan Celtic Britain: Studies in Iconography and Tradition (by Anne Ross, 936.202/ROS), and can be requested from Reserve Stock at the All Saints Library Help Desk.

This rather dapper variation of a gremlin can be found in A Dictionary of Fabulous Beasts (by Richard Barber and Anne Riches), and is located at 398.469/BAR in the west wing of the ground floor.

Bet you didn't know we had a book entirely about unicorns. Well, we do. It's titled Unicorn: Myth and Reality (by Rüdiger Robert Beer) and it is located in the west wing of the ground floor at shelfmark 398.469/BEE.

This book may contain traces of nuts and seeds. (Tesco stickers don't make the best bookmarks and damage book pages).

A little message from a member of the shelving team, left on an Assistant Librarian's desk.

Found it Friday on Twitter
